March 10th Cooking Class: Fearless Fish

We are partnered with Christopher Kimball's Milk Street to bring you Milk Street curated classes and recipes.  This class is a demonstration-based iteration of Fearless Fish.

Class Description:

Packed with protein, fast-cooking and low in fat (except the good, omega-3 kind), fish has a lot going for it. In this demonstration-based class, we treat fish wit the respect it gets in other parts of the world. We cook delicate white fish in gentle heat to preserve moistness and tenderness. We use sharp aromatics and bold spices to provide a punchy counterpoint to its essential mildness. We do a one-sided sear to boost texture and flavor without running the risk of overcooking. And we get simmering right, adding bold flavor to banish any blandness and finding lighter alternatives to heavy cream.

Pan-Seared Salmon with Red Chili-Walnut Sauce
Shrimp in Garlic Sauce
Shrimp with Kerkennaise Sauce
Vietnamese Turmeric Fish with Wilted Herbs and Peanuts

 

 

Please note: This is not a hands-on class. In this class you will watch and interact as the instructor prepares several dishes using a variety of strategies and techniques. You will sample from generous tasting portions of the demonstrated dishes.

FAQs

What are my parking options getting to the event?

We are located in The Tannery Marketplace at 50 Water Street, Newburyport, inside Mill Building #4 which is on the Water Street side of the complex.

Parking lot and street parking is available. When attending a class or event with us, you may park in the 15 minute parking spaces in front of the store for an extended stay.  

Is this a demo or hands-on cooking class?

This is a demonstration-based class. 

Should I eat a snack before class?

We recommend eating something before the class. Generous tasting samples will be provided during the event. 

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Yes. All students must be 18+ years old. Students 14-17 years old are welcome to participate with an adult guardian or parent. Those under 21 will not be able to participate in the wine tasting portion of our event.

Is my registration/ticket refundable or transferrable?

Yes. Tickets are refundable or transferable to another class up to seven days before an event. Tickets are transferable to another student for the same class at any time. Within seven days of the event, we do not offer refunds or class credits.
